Relationships have a natural life span and some partners are more attentive than others. How do you know if you’re just experiencing “The grass is always greener” or if it really is time to find a new digital partner.
Here are some things to consider.
Service – How responsive is your current provider to your requests and how proactive are they at suggesting things which can improve your digital activity. Are the ho hum or Ho!-Hum!
Speed – How fast is your site? Speed plays a major part in search rankings and if you are hosted on a dud server then rankings suffer. Good rankings = better performance = making more money.
Competence – Do they have the versatility to get what you need done? Do they have the specialists you need to take you to the next level? Do they blame your CMS for causing problems on your site or do they just get the job done? Are you always working with the new guy – or do they take your business seriously?
Attitude – Do they value your business and take the time to understand it? Are they always playing catch up or do they come to you with ideas? Do they take pain away or do they cause it?
Added value – Digital Agencies, Website Design Companies and SEO Specialists are to be found in abundance. What do they do which really adds value? Do they host events, introduce you to other clients and partners, refer business to you? If they don’t then ask yourself why not.
Fighting with SEO Guy – It’s common for the SEO guy and the web designer to fight about who is to blame for poor performance. Often they really share responsibility. Hosting with a company who will take responsibility for both the quantity of traffic you get and the way it converts into business really for you puts you in control of your destiny. At NEC we cover all the bases delivering not only the website maintenance but a full SEO, conversion and digital marketing service. We’re about leads – not just traffic and pretty pictures.
Moving agency is seriously easy. It takes one call and one email ( ideally a coffee ). At StudioNEC we migrate several sites over to our platform every month – usually at no cost.
The migration process can normally be broken down into several parts:
Domain migration – The domain records need to be updated to point at a new server. The domain custodianship may also need to change.
Website File System – The old provider should give us access to back things up once you approve us to act for you. Normally the site files and CMS database. We then move these to the new server.
Email – Depending on your set up we may need to help move your mail. Our ideal scenario is that you have an IT provider or in house IT department. People expect a lot from email these days and we are not IT guys. We’re quite used to helping though.
Moving your website is easy. There are some circumstances where there are reasons it’s not straight forward but these are the rare exception. Moving your site to a full service digital agency can position you to achieve better rankings, better conversion and hopefully get better business results.
